Called to the Nigerian Bar in 2018, Queen Charles Ukpo is an astute litigator who currently leads the firm’s Medical Law Practice Area. She holds a Second Class (Upper Division) Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Uyo, Uyo, Nigeria. She obtained her Barrister-at-Law training at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, where she again graduated with a Second Class (Upper Division) grade. As a key member of the dispute resolution team, Queen regularly defends the interests of a wide range of clients with a significant success rate. She draws on her keen eyes for details and a strong analytical ability to serve the clients’ interests. As a medico-legal lawyer, she has successfully trained healthcare professionals of a premier hospital in Warri, Nigeria, on navigating the patient- healthcare provider relationship to minimize medical liability suits.
As an undergraduate, Queen represented her alma mater, and Nigeria at the annual International Humanitarian Law Moot Competition in Arusha, Tanzania. She also emerged third place winner at the 2021 edition of the Nigerian Bar Association- Section on Legal Practice Young Lawyers Debate Competition in Nigeria. In 2023, she led a team of young lawyers from the Nigerian Bar Association Branch in Effurun, Delta State to emerge semi-finalist at the Nigerian Bar Association –Young Lawyers Forum Arbitration Challenge. Queen’s interest areas are Health Law and Policy, Arbitration and Mediation.
