After a keen intellectual contest between Law Students across Nigeria, Compos Mentis Legal Practitioners is glad to have announced the winners of the DAFE AKPEDEYE SAN ESSAY COMPETITION (2021 Edition). The much anticipated announcement was done on the 18th of May 2021during the firm’s monthly webinar series.

This year’s Essay Theme was: Drake’s 2018 ‘In My Feelings’, the Proliferated Shiggy Dance, and Copyright Considerations – The Nigerian Perspective. The Firm received various essay entries and at the end of an intensive review process, four winners emerged.

These Champions are:

Iliya-Ezekiel Ndatse | Afe Babalola University | – (Winner).


Joseph Matawa | University of Benin | – (2nd Place).


Mercy Nwaogazie | Nnamdi Azikiwe University | – (2nd Place).


Rosemary Ejiogu | Nnamdi Azikiwe University | – (3rd Place).

Compos Mentis Legal Practitioners congratulates these champions and all other participants. In addition, as part of the firm’s contribution to the advancement of legal education in Nigeria, the DAFE AKPEDEYE SAN competition has been instituted as a yearly event.

So anticipate the 2022 edition of the competition!
